The Benefits of uPVC Windows
Posted Thursday 10th November 2009
Although uPVC windows have
been around for years, new styling options and further
awareness of their cost effective nature has lead to a
rising trend in their usage. These windows are resilient
to weather, accidents and even to some degree vandalism.
Windows constructed from Rigid PVC are great insulators
and can save money in a number of ways. But why should
you pick uPVC windows rather than glass or other
alternatives? Well, here’s some useful information!
For starters, uPVC is
relatively cost effective. Some other materials like
aluminium and timber are slightly less costly, but for
the amount of time they last for really you’ll spend a
lot less money with uPVC!
This reason to pick uPVC is
strongly linked to the next one, which is the fact it is
extremely low maintenance. Metals rust and obviously
wood can be warped by the weather (precipitation).
Considering this, uPVC becomes instantly all the more
attractive option. Most companies providing uPVC windows
offer extended guarantees – such is their faith in their
product! You really can’t fault the durability of uPVC
both during spontaneous accidents and over extended
periods of time pitted against nature itself. Wood needs
repainting at least every six years. If you choose uPVC,
it may well never need repainting at all (uPVC doesn’t
even fade)!
Because of the nature of
uPVC and because of how it was designed, it is a
superior insulator to both timber and metals. That’s a
major boast. In winter your heating bills will be much
lower because uPVC is the most heat efficient option
available for windowing. Great!
Because uPVC is so
resistant, it’s extremely difficult to break through
(the frames hold the sheets in place and are very
sturdy). So what does this mean? Well, two things.
Firstly if you’re doing a drunken hand-stand against a
window at your house party (we’ve all heard those
stories!) you’re not going to fall through your precious
window! But more importantly, if we reverse that idea,
not many people trying to get in from the outside will
be able to break through the window. That makes uPVC
windows security oriented. It’s always nice to think
you’re buying the best for the wellbeing of yourself or
of your family, so once again uPVC trumps the
competition.
The major, if only drawback
to uPVC windowing is the aesthetics. Many people do see
uPVC as white, tacky and plastic fantastic. Whilst this
certainly used to be the case you can now get uPVC
framing for windows in a number of finishes. As
mentioned earlier uPVC doesn’t allow colour to fade as
easily as timber or metal. You might even end up with
more stylish frames than if you went with the older and
more natural alternatives. At Cashmores we are confident
that our uPVC window solutions will excel to the point
that they make their counterparts look plain and boring!
All things considered, uPVC
is simply put the most superior windowing/framing
solution available today. There’s no reason at all not
to go with it! Protect your house, protect your wallet
and use uPVC.
